Visiting the NYAC Yacht Club as a Reciprocal Guest

The New York Athletic Club Yacht Club welcomes reciprocal club members wishing to visit us at Travers Island. Founded in 1892, the NYAC YC is one of the oldest and most storied yacht clubs on Long Island Sound. During your stay, we hope you will enjoy our facilities and community. The following will provide general information about our facility, procedures for guests and services you may need.

Visiting yacht club members must be at least 18 years old, and must arrive by boat.

Prior to your visit, a letter of introduction must be sent from your reciprocal Club on its letterhead, stating that the member is in good standing, the dates of the planned visit, your address, e-mail address and phone number. A credit card number will also be taken to create a guest card for you. It will be used for all charges. (The NYAC does not accept commercial credit cards for charges). To arrange for a guest card, contact the Accounting Department at (914) 740-1103, [email protected] or by fax at (914) 740-1116.

For the charging of expenses, one guest card is permitted per person, per season, with a maximum duration of seven consecutive days. Exceptions can be made for boats staying overnight. Your guest card will give you access to the pool, tennis, fitness center and dining outlets on Travers Island only (not the NYAC City House in Manhattan). There are fees associated with each venue. Please call/e-mail to request a list of fees.

Shower and bath facilities are located in our marina clubhouse. In the nearby Main House, you will find a variety of lounge and dining options, from Tiki bars to "smart casual" restaurants. However, jeans, bathing suits, bare feet and tank tops are not permitted in the indoor spaces. For dining reservations, please call (914) 738-2700 x1280.

The NYAC YC marina is located in the channel to the north of Glen Island and can be approached directly from west of the Island, or from the east by passing under the Glen Island Bridge (call on VHF Channel 13 to open).

NYAC dock personnel can be contacted on VHF Channel 9 for mooring assistance, fuel and launch service.

The Use Of Club Facilities And Moorings Is At Your Own Risk. The NYAC Yacht Club Assumes No Liability For Use Of Its Facilities.
