Athletic Facilities

From yoga to boxing, there's health and fitness activities for every level of fitness at the NYAC.

  • Fitness and Wellness Center
    • On the fourth floor, the Fitness and Wellness Center provides members with individually tailored conditioning and health programs. Personal training, pilates instruction, fitness classes and lectures are available to members. The focus on one-on-one attention makes the Fitness and Wellness Center a hidden gem amidst the broad range of NYAC athletic facilities. Introduced in 2014, the Center also offers physical therapy services in-situ, provided by staff from the renowned Hospital for Special Surgery.
  • Gymnasium
    • The City House gymnasium houses state-of-the-art treadmills, stationary bikes, a fitness studio, running track, full-sized basketball court, free weights and all manner of cardio and weight-training equipment.
  • Aquatic Center
    • The Aquatic Center is a jewel in the NYAC’s athletic crown. In addition to the enticing pool, members can enjoy a Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and spout room. Light poolside dining is also available to complement a workout.
  • Squash and Racquetball
    • The NYAC’s exceptional facilities are irresistible to squash and racquetball lovers. The courts are alive with all levels of competition, from the raw novice to the nationally ranked. They are also a popular place to socialize and get tips on the game. Better still, our teaching professionals can offer instruction and insight to take members’ games to the next level. Uniquely, the City House also houses doubles squash courts on the 21st floor.
  • Handball
    • The NYAC is a bastion of handball. Our tradition in that sport goes back through the ages and remains as steadfast as ever. Located on the 21st floor, our handball courts offer a warm welcome to members and friends who schedule court-time or who drop by for an impromptu match.
  • Judo
    • If you feel like throwing your – or someone else’s – weight around, the NYAC 7th floor dojo is the place to do it. Judo workouts take place at the City House several times a week, with first-rate instruction for the raw novice and the world-class black belt – who all show up.
  • Fencing and Wrestling
    • Located in the building’s basement, the Fencing and Wrestling Room has produced some of the finest competitors in the history of those sports. The mats and strips are often alive with the exertions of competitors ranging from the enthusiastically recreational to undeniably world class. Top-ranked instructors ensure that participants of all ages acquire the essential skills to ensure a lifetime of fitness and enjoyment.
  • Boxing
    • The seventh floor Boxing Room boasts two rings, speed and heavy bags and all manner of strength and endurance equipment to enhance your overall fitness – and you don’t even have to throw a punch, unless you want to. Regular classes and instruction place the emphasis on safety and health while ensuring an invigorating and satisfying workout.
