Matthew Forys, 27, was born and raised in New Jersey and graduated from Bucknell University in 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics. While at Bucknell, he qualified for NCAA Division I Cross Country and Outdoor Track National Championships. He was an IC4A Champion in the indoor 3000m and was named to the All Region, All East, and All Patriot League teams during his collegiate career.
Since graduating, Matthew has relocated to New York City and joined the NYAC team. His primarily focuses on road racing and cross country.
In 2011, Matthew qualified for the 2012 USA Olympic Marathon Trials at the NYC Half Marathon with a time of 1:04:56, placing 27th overall. At the 2011 USATF Club Cross Country Championships, he led the team to a fourth place finish with his 14th place finish in a personal best 10k time of 30:04.
In 2012, Matthew competed at the USA Olympic Marathon Trials, placing 48th overall in his debut marathon in a time of 2:19:24. He won the NYC JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge for a second time. He also ran a personal best of 48:56 at the USA 10 Mile Championships. At the 2012 USATF Club Cross Country Championships, he placed fourth overall, helping the team to a fourth place finish. With this finish, Matt qualified to represent the United States in two international competitions along with his brother Craig, as part of Team USA.
At the 2013 BUPA Great Edinburgh International Cross Country Championship held in Edinburgh, Scotland, Matthew placed 14th overall in the international field. This helped Team USA win the Senior Men's division. Matthew also qualified to represent the United States at the 2013 NACAC Cross Country Championships in Mandeville, Jamaica. Matt placed fourth overall and second for Team USA, helping Team USA win the Senior Men's division.
He currently lives and works in New York City.
