The New York Athletic Club

The Most Celebrated Athletic Club in the USA

The New York Athletic Club was founded in 1868 in order to bring structure to the nascent world of amateur sport in the USA. In its journey through the ensuing decades, the NYAC has evolved to become an athletic powerhouse, globally renowned in sports such as track and field, swimming, wrestling, fencing, judo, water polo and rowing, among others.

Concurrently, the NYAC evolved to become an integral feature of the cultural fabric of New York City, its members being denizens of business, politics and the arts. With that came an expansion of the Club's social programs, leading it to become what it is today: one of the most celebrated private athletic clubs in the world, with two locations - the City House and Travers Island - that offer the finest in athletic, dining and social opportunities.

It is no exagerration to state that the New York Athletic Club is among the most successful Olympic clubs of all time. Similarly, it is a club offering a warm welcome to all those who enjoy world class facilities and unparalleled camaraderie.

City House and Travers Island

The New York Athletic Club's City House boasts panoramic views of Central Park, top-class facilities for the Club's members and guests, and is ideally situated for those wishing to take advantage of all the sights and sounds that New York City has to offer.

The New York Athletic Club's Travers Island Club House is located on 33 idyllic acres beside the Long Island Sound. Swimming, boating and tennis along with casual and fine dining all ensure that one visit is never enough.
