World Class in the Water
NYAC men's and women's water polo remain aquatic powerhouses

From July 19th through August 2nd, the NYAC men's and women's water polo players competed in the US Championships in Stockton, CA. Congratulations to the NYAC men for continuing their winning streak, taking home their third national championship in a row, and to the NYAC women for their second place finish.

NYAC water polo was also represented at the 2009 World Championships in Rome, where NYAC women Heather Petri, Moriah Van Norman, Lauren Wenger, Betsey Armstrong, Jamie Hipp, Kelly Rulon, Tanya Gandy and Assistant Coach Coralie Simmons claimed the gold for the United States. Also representing the NYAC were Adam Wright, Layne Beaubien, Merrill Moses, Jesse Smith, Tony Azevedo, and John Mann, who finished fourth.

The NYAC's men's and women's water polo teams are among the finest in the country. Club members from the men's and women's teams were among US representatives that competed in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. The US women won bronze medals at those Games; four among that team were NYAC members.

Presently, the NYAC teams are focusing on the 2008 Games in Beijing. Expectations and high for our competitors.
