Athletes invited to train at the NYAC enjoy a fully equipped boathouse, a nationally recognized coaching staff, and the opportunity to train with a highly competitive group of dedicated athletes.
With a long tradition of excellence at all levels of competitive rowing, the NYAC Rowing team remains one of the oldest and most successful club rowing teams in the country, capturing numerous American and Canadian championships annually. Over the past 10 years, the NYAC has repeatedly won the USRowing Overall title, the Sulger-Barnes Men’s Point Trophy, the Marion Ventura-NYAC Women’s Point Trophy, and the Lightweight Men’s 8 title at the Head of the Charles, while NYAC athletes have won places on the US National Team as well as medals at the FISA World Championships.
The NYAC Rowing program selects pre-elite athletes for invitations to the rowing team on the basis of collegiate racing experience and potential for success in Senior and Elite competition.
Qualified athletes can also pursue full-time post-collegiate training with the NYAC’s year-round training group, which competes at the major fall head races and at National Selection Regattas in the spring.
Please note: while the NYAC has a number of competitive older scullers, there is no Masters program open to new members; all athletes rowing at the NYAC must be invited to as part of the pre-elite, full-time training program described here.
