About Us
The New York Athletic Club (NYAC) Rugby team competes in the USA Rugby Super League (RSL) which is the highest level of rugby competition in the USA. We also carry a B-side and sometimes C-side team who compete against the B and C-sides of opposing teams or Division I teams.
Our Rugby club was established in 1973 , and in brief, we’ve made numerous appearances in the Final Sixteen National Tournament during the late 90’s. We finished as a finalist in the 2000 Division I championships, finished in the RSL Final Four in 2004 and went on to win the Rugby Super League National Championship in 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2012.
The Rugby Super League season starts in March of each year and runs through Memorial Day. We play 7’s during the summer and play a regional schedule in the fall. Practice for the Rugby Super League Spring season starts in January of each year. We train three times per week during the preseason and two times per week during the regular season. Training sessions are currently held at Randall’s Island.
We are strictly an amateur club and are governed by our parent organization, the New York Athletic Club. All are encouraged to try out for the team. Please see left side tabs for practice times and schedules.
