The NYAC rows on the Orchard Beach Lagoon in Pelham, NY, at the eastern border of The Bronx and Westchester Counties. The 2000m course was home to the 1964 US Olympic Trials. The boathouse is equipped with a spacious erg and weight room as well as locker rooms and showers. There are five boat bays stocked with sculling and sweep shells.
Recently the boat house was "retrofitted" with new ceilings, fans, women's locker room facilities, and a new security system. All of the boathouse occupants are extremely grateful and pleased with all the recent renovations the club has put forth for these efforts.
Training
Workouts vary depending on the season.
Our emphasis is two-fold: improve technique through focused drills and exercises; develop fitness through execution of a training plan that balances volume with intensity.
- Practices are held six days a week to train for upcoming races.
- During the work week, the year-round team trains from 5:30am to 7am.
- On weekends, the teams join up at 8:30am to venture out on the Lagoon.
